A new exhibition celebrating the people, places, and heritage of the Calder Valley opens this winter at Hebden Bridge Town Hall. “Calder Valley: People – Place – Heritage” brings together the work of three local photographers whose perspectives capture the unique spirit and creativity of the area.
Through photography, paintings, and personal stories, the exhibition offers three distinct yet complementary views of the valley’s landscape, history, and community:
• Terry Roberts grew up in Hebden Bridge and has witnessed the town’s transformation through years of change. His photographs and paintings reflect a deep affection for the Calder Valley’s landscapes and heritage.
• Ron Pengelly showcases the creativity and artistic energy that have long flourished in the valley. His images highlight the vibrant cultural life that continues to define the region.
• Neil Horsley presents photo essays exploring the lives of people who have breathed new life into the valley’s heritage buildings—transforming a former postal sorting office, church, historic shop, chapel, canal barge, cinema, and railway station into renewed community spaces.
