Prepare for a night of brilliant chaos and side-splitting fun with Peter Shaffer’s classic farce, Black Comedy, brought to you by Foot of the Barrel.
When a fuse blows in a London flat, a desperate young sculptor and his fiancée find themselves plunged into darkness just as they’re about to meet a wealthy collector and the fiancée’s disapproving father. In Peter Shaffer’s hilarious farce, the stage is lit for the audience when the characters are in darkness, and in darkness when they are in the light. The result is a series of uproarious misunderstandings and physical comedy as they stumble through the chaos, mistaking friends for enemies and furniture for people.
With a cast of brilliantly flawed characters, including a flirtatious neighbour and a strait-laced colonel, this unique one-act play is a whirlwind of chaos and laughter that will have you in stitches from start to finish.
