Celebrate Halloween in West Yorkshire!

This autumn we’ve worked with our partners Visit Bradford, Visit Leeds and Experience Wakefield to bring you a round-up of some of the best Halloween activity happening across West Yorkshire. This will give you a ghoulishly good flavour of what’s on, from horrible half-term activity to terrifying tours and fiendishly fun nights – there is something to spook you whether you’re big or small!

 

CALDERDALE

Ghoul School at Eureka! The National Children’s Museum

Join Beastie, Esme and a host of Eureka! characters as they present a range of fun Halloween themed activities and events just for you – from making potions to science busking, as well as spooky crafts and Ghoul School discos!

Spooky Shibden

What dark and macabre secrets does Shibden Hall hold? What phantoms and beasts hide in the dark woods? Join us, your guides to the ghastly, as we walk through the narrow and shadow-filled rooms of haunted Shibden as you listen to tales of terror and stories of the supernatural. The Tour begins at the Lister Lion next to Shibden Hall. Please wear warm clothing as sections are outside. Not suitable for young children

  • When: 28th October, 6pm

BRADFORD

The Wizards are Coming

Witches and Wizards will take over the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway for three days during the October Half-Term. Come along and take part in a magical and mischievous adventure. As you travel through the Worth Valley by rail, keep an eye out because the wandering magician may unexpectedly appear at your table and dazzle you with amazing magic tricks.

  • When: 25 – 27 October, the first train departs Oxenhope at 10:00, with services running until 1600
  • Where: Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, BD22 8NJ
  • How Much: One child (aged 5-15) in magical fancy dress will enjoy a half-price ticket when accompanied by an adult with a Day Rover ticket.

Halloween Half Term Family Fun & Fangs on Film

Experiment with spooky science, discover how special effects can bring weird and wonderful creatures to life and get hands-on with interactive activities for the whole family at the National Science + Media Museum in Bradford this October half term.

For adults who love a good scare from the comfort of a plush cinema seat. Sink your teeth into a host of classic vampire flicks with Pictureville Cinema’s specially curated Halloween season “Fangs on Film”.

 

LEEDS

(Family) Halloween Hauntings at Temple Newsam

Discover the blue lady and the ghostly residents of Home Farm and Temple Newsam House during the spooky week of Halloween half term. Hear terrifying tales about the history of the estate and the ghosts and ghouls who creep through the corridors in the dead of night!

Don’t forget to wear your creepiest costumes!

There will also be pumpkin carving in the Walled Garden on 27 October from 1-3pm. No need to book ahead, just drop in.

WAKEFIELD

Yorkshire Scare Grounds Scream Park

Yorkshire’s number 1 scream park and Halloween destination, Yorkshire Scare Grounds, is back for 2022! Designed to thrill, scare and entertain you with live actors, authentic sets, atmospheric lighting and sound, plus static and moving props. With 5 creepy new scare attractions and 2 horrifying scare zones, face your fears this October for a spine-chilling experience you won’t forget.

Wicked Wakey

This half-term, Wakefield BID is turning Wakefield city centre into the spooky centre of West Yorkshire with Wicked Wakey! Ride the Tiny Train of Terror and listen to the spooky stories, enjoy free face painting, selfie competitions, street entertainment, family workshops and lots more.
