Calderdale Heritage Walk: Ann Walker's Lightcliffe SOLD OUT

Starting 4th Apr 2020 See all Dates for this event

When John Walker died in Naples in 1830 on his honeymoon, his sisters Elizabeth & Ann inherited a large estate in Lightcliffe and became very wealthy. Within two years Ann had become the companion of Anne Lister.

We walk round part of the estate, viewing Cliffe Hill House and the site of Crow Nest Mansion where Ann lived. We finish in the churchyard where she is buried together with other members of her family, employees and tenants (including the one not eaten by a pig).

This is a 2 hour circular walk, mainly on pavements with just a short walk across a footpath. Dogs on leads welcome.

Walk leader: Ian Philp Meet by the tower in the churchyard at 2pm. HX3 8TH
