Thursday 3rd May

The 6th Annual Hebden Bridge Burlesque Festival begins today, running to Sunday 6th May to bring you four days of fun-filled fabulousness. Some shows have sold out already so if you would like tickets; don’t delay – buy them today!

Friday 4th May

The Todmorden Folk Festival returns, with three days packed with live music, dancing, singing, mirth & merriment at several fantastic venues across Todmorden Town Centre. Running until 6th May.

Calling all Halifax RLFC fans - The Fax-tastic Halifax RLFC Q&A Roadshow is at Northowram Social Club today at 8pm (FREE entry, donations welcome).

 

Saturday 5th May

Vocal octet Cantorelli make a musical journey through mainland Europe with secular and sacred choral at Hope Baptist Church Hebden Bridge (7.30pm £8/£5)

There's fun for all the family at the Northowram Scarecrow Festival over the May Bank Holiday weekend. In addition to the Scarecrow Trail there's a Fun Dog Show, Bake Off, BBQ, Live Music, Children's Games, Raffle and Tombola. (5th – 7th May)

It’s Free Comic Book Day. Doors open at Legacy Comics, Halifax at 8am, giving you a chance to take home comic books from an enormous range. All free! Calder Valley Scribblers will be in Westgate Arcade, selling comic books and drawing many awesome things and there will be a guest appearance from comic book maestro Geof Banyard. Spiderman will be swinging in to make an appearance and there will be a charity raffle with all the proceeds going to Forget me not Children's Hospice (main prize, a comic book themed cake).

Clay House in West Vale, Halifax is hosting its 1st ever Mini Festival of Gin on May Bank Holiday weekend 5th & 6th May. (7pm – midnight).

 

Sunday 6th May

Stage 4 of the Tour de Yorkshire, the ‘Yorkshire Terrier’ begins at The Piece Hall! Doors open at 9am with the peloton expected to depart approx 12.10pm. Halifax will be full of entertainment with big screens, live music, attractions shops and bars open – read our blog for route details, timings, details of road closures and more about what’s on in Halifax today.  

Harvey's Army host their Pawsome Pooch Party at Manor Heath Park, Halifax. Attractions include a Fun Dog Show, Charity & Trade Stalls, Doggy Photo Booth, Rides, Bouncy Castle, Have a Go Agility, Flyball and much more!

 

Bank Holiday Monday 7th May

It’s the Shibden Hall May Day Craft Fair with demonstrations of traditional crafts including pole lathing, blacksmithing and rag-rugging as well as local celtic traditions such as building a green man. Take part in May Day dancing and listen to traditional folk tales. (10am- 4pm Admission: Included in entry price to Hall £5/£4)

Wainhouse Tower is open to the public! Climb the 403 steps of the internal spiral staircase to take in the fantastic views from this fabulously ornate 77 metre (253 foot) high Victorian chimney! (11am – 4pm £3)

Join Calderdale Heritage Walks to explore the fringe areas of both Shelf and Norwood Green and the lanes between them. (2.15pm £3)
