What's On in Calderdale September 15th & 16th
The Halifax Heritage Festival concludes this weekend and there’s lots for you to enjoy:
Guided Heritage Tours of the Piece Hall: Friday, Saturday & Sunday 11am, 12 Noon, 1.45pm, & 3.30pm FREE.
Calderdale Industrial Museum (with its new Laura Annie Willson exhibition) Saturday & Sunday 10am – 4pm FREE entry (entry is usually £5 per adult).
Free Art Exhibition & Watercolour Demonstrations with Jane Austin in the beautiful All Souls Church at Haley Hill, which is not normally open to the public. Saturday & Sunday 11am – 3pm).
The Artworks at Shaw Lodge Mills has artist open studios, galleries and workshops Saturday & Sunday 10am – 4.30pm.
Enjoy a tour of the award-winning 'For King & Country' galleries at Bankfield Museum. This tour is on the top floor of the museum. Saturday 2pm FREE.
Take a Halifax Music Heritage Trail Guided Tour Meet at the Grayston Unity, 1-3 Wesley Court Halifax (By the Town Hall steps) 2pm £5.

The South Pennines Walk & Ride Festival continues, showcasing ways to explore our stunning landscape on foot, on cycle or on horseback.
Saturday 15th September:
The Teletubbies’ first ever theatre show created especially for your little ones is at Victoria Theatre Halifax. Join in and enjoy beloved features from the TV series along with brand new songs. 10am Tickets: from £15.75.
Explore old routes through the Crimsworth Valley with National Trust Hardcastle Crags. This medium to hard 5 mile walk ending at Gibson Mill explores the ancient paths which were used to transport anything and everything from salt to lime and cloth: they were constructed to be used by the now extinct Galloway horses. Meet by the information point near the National Trust car park at the end of Midgehole Road (use HX7 7AA for SatNav). A car parking charge will apply for non-National Trust members.10am – 1pm.
Don’t miss this closing summer spectacle The Blondin Gala - a celebration of the historic event when in 1861 international sensation Blondin completed a tightrope walk across The Piece Hall. The Gala also features an array of artists and performances for the audience to explore, including side show curiosities, vaudeville style street theatre, circus acts and magic to make this an evening to remember. 6.30pm – 10.30pm Admission £12; Admission (four people) £42; Balcony Ticket £20 (allows access to the balcony levels to watch the show along with the balcony bar and toilets); Children under 2 years go free.
Sunday 16th September:
Join Calderdale Heritage Walks to explore Lightcliffe. Looking at some interesting local buildings of differing styles - many were the work of local architects who also designed public buildings and workers’ housing in this area. Meet John Brooke at 2.15 pm by The Old Church Dental Practice on A58 Whitehall Rd, 600 yards east of Hipperholme crossroads. HX3 8NT £3.
