Friday 15th June

Southgate Drama and Social Group presents a celebration of 'hit songs from stage and screen in ‘Don’t Stop the Musicals’. (Fri & Sat, Sat matinee 2.15pm, evening performances 7.15pm. Tickets from £6 or £7.50 Saturday matinee, includes a scone and hot drink. Southgate Methodist Centre, Elland).

Crooners comes to Victoria Theatre Halifax; three self-assured gentlemen of style and vigour, who swing the hell out of the music of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin and Matt Monro, with an outrageous live 10 piece band and a splendiferously British injection of comedy. (7.30pm Tickets from £21.25)

 

Saturday 16th June

Join Mike Henshaw and members of the Cromwell Bottom Wildlife Group outside the cabin at Cromwell Bottom Local Nature Reserve (HD6 2RG) at 9.45am for a 2-hour Bird Walk & Survey (about 2 miles on easy paths) to observe and identify birds on the Reserve. (FREE, donations welcome).

The Todmorden Agricultural Show is a fantastic day out for all the family, with animals, rare breeds, displays, a fun fair, trade stands, vintage vehicles, special events and more. The show takes place on land next to the Ram Inn, Burnley Road, Cliviger, Burnley. (Events in the main arena start at 10am with ticket prices on the day £10 Adults, £5 children and cheaper in advance).

Come to Bankfield Museum for a celebration of all things sweet. Sweets! is a new family friendly exhibition for 2018 featuring Calderdale's confectionery collections from Mackintosh, Rowntrees, Riley's Toffee, Dobsons, Nestle, Turnwrights Toffee and other popular brands. Make Quality Street themed hats and chocolate boxes in our free drop-in kid’s activity between 11am and 3pm in the Oak Gallery. Hear from Alex Hutchinson, Archivist and Historian about the history of Mackintosh sweets at 2pm - 3pm in the Akroyd Library (10am – 4pm FREE entry).

The first Welland, Festival of Joy comes to Wainwright Hall in Elland. Come along to enjoy Dance, Drama, Drumming, Crafts, Theatre, Taekwon-do, Face Painting, Menhdi, Badge Making, Raffle, Stalls and much more! (10am – 4pm FREE entry)

The excellent Jack Manning will be playing live at Westgate Arcade between 12.30pm-2.30pm. Grab a coffee or a meal and be thoroughly entertained. You can also enter the 'Snap a Selfie with your Dad' competition to be in with a chance to win £25 worth of Westgate Arcade vouchers!

 

Sunday 17th June

The rangers at Hardcastle Crags invite you to roll up your sleeves, become volunteers for a day and help us give nature a helping hand by join in with a Himalayan Balsam Bash. Sign posts from the lower car park, on Midgehole road will point you in the right direction of where we'll be working. No dogs, please.(10am – 3pm FREE)
