Friday 2nd December

From the creators of Santa's Dizzy Day and Santa's Rusty Robot; enjoy a brand new festive show for 2-6 years olds at Victoria theatre, Halifax: Santa's Polka Dot Pirate. (Various times each day Friday, Saturday and Sunday)

The Night Market art installation continues at the North wall of the Piece Hall (get to it via Woolshops); watch as a tale of a parallel universe unfolds, illuminating the external walls as characters exchange goods and meet at The Night Market. (FREE dusk to 9pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday)

It’s the Kings Cross Christmas Light Switch On, with entertainment from 3pm-4.30pm from St. Paul's Choir and the West Yorkshire Police Band, with special guest: Father Christmas. The lights switch on is at 4pm and at 4.30pm there's a free screening of A Muppet Christmas Carol at King Cross library!

There’s Late Night Christmas shopping in Hebden Bridge until 8pm!

 

Saturday 3rd December

A major new exhibition of work by Peter Brook, the famous local landscape artist, opens this Saturday 3rd December at the Harrison Lord Gallery in Brighouse. (FREE)

Come along to the Northlight Winter Art Fair in Hebden Bridge to enjoy ceramics, paintings and textile, as well as a raffle, festive refreshments and children's activities. (FREE 11am-5pm Saturday & Sunday)

The Dean Clough Festive Art Fair brings you 30 artists offering a range of presents and gifts to suit any budget. (FREE 10am – 5pm Saturday and Sunday)

There’s a Christmas Bazaar at Queen’s Road Neighbourhood Centre with Santa’s Grotto, music & entertainment, crafts & henna, food & drink and Christmas Carols (FREE 11am-3pm)

It’s the Ripponden Christmas Market, with food, crafts, gift stalls; live festive music; donkeys and reindeer. (FREE 12 noon-6pm, at St Bartholomew's Church)

Go Up and Down T'Street in Sowerby Bridgefor a huge variety of special offers in local shops and free street entertainment (FREE 1pm – 7pm)

Take your First Steps in Knitting at Word of Mouth in Hebden Bridge. The workshop will show you how to cast on and off and how to knit stitches such as plain and purl. Materials will be provided. (2pm-4pm £10)

Halifax Concert Band returns to Square Chapel Centre for the Arts for their 12th annual Christmas concert. (7.30pm £9.50)

 

Sunday 4th December

Bring the kids to see Santa in his grotto in the enchanted Winter garden at Millers Bar, Brighouse (£5 1pm-4pm Booking in advance required Call 01484 968144)

It’s the RSPCA Christmas Family Fayre in Halifax, a festive family day including stalls and games. Meet the animals and do some shopping for your stocking fillers! (12pm-3pm)

Halifax Symphony Orchestra are playing at Square Chapel (£12 3pm)

Commemorate this year’s World Aids Day (on 1 December) at square Chapel as those affected by HIV/Aids throughout the World are remembered. The evening will feature people telling stories of their experience of HIV and Aids along with Music recitals and a performance by The Chosen Generation Gospel Choir. (7.30pm £8)

Overgate Hospice invites you to remember loved ones in a service taking place at the Hospice (FREE 4pm)
