DetailsHalifax Sailing Club is based at Warley Moor Reservoir (also known as Fly Flats) in Calderdale, West Yorkshire. Formed in 1959, it is a friendly club, affiliated to the RYA, owned and run by the members. The reservoir covers 90 acres and, being at an altitude of 410 meters, enjoys clear winds which provides top quality sailing. We welcome dinghy sailors, windsurfers and have arrangements for other organisations to use our facilities.
The club can be found using the following directions.
From Halifax town centre, follow the signs to Wainstalls (via Pellon Lane). There are brown tourist signs for the sailing club in the town centre. Carry straight on up this road until it flattens out to a moor land stretch. From here, the wind farm overlooking the club can usually be seen in the distance.
Keep straight on through Mount Tabor, until arriving at a fork in the road at the Delvers PH. Take the right hand fork. Carry on to towards the wind farm, crossing the cattle grid after the wind farm car park. Continue and the reservoir can be seen down to the left, the entrance being through a gate that will normally be closed. Please close it after entering. (There is also a sailing club sign at the gate. Continue down the track to the clubhouse.
