Calderdale’s public toilets have facilities for people with accessibility needs. In the majority of cases you will need a RADAR key to access the facilities, which can be obtained from the Age UK in the Woolshops Shopping Centre, Halifax. Keys cost £3.50 and you can get one if you show proof of disability, such as a blue badge or a letter from your doctor.
When you’re visiting Calderdale in the coming months, please be aware that due to the COVID-19 virus, not all of the public toilet facilities in Calderdale are currently open.
To help support the reopening of local businesses and enable those with certain medical conditions to get out and about, from Tuesday 7th July Calderdale Council is reopening one toilet block in each of Calderdale’s main towns:
Brighouse – Thornton Square
Elland – Town Hall Square
Halifax – Albion Street
Hebden Bridge – New Road
Sowerby Bridge – Wharf Street
Todmorden – Brook Street
The toilets will be open Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30am-4.30pm.
All of these toilet blocks have disabled toilets accessible with RADAR keys.
NB The information above superceeds the toilet details below, which we’re leaving here for reference and which will hopefully become current again once COVID-19 restrictions have fully been lifted.
