For the hearing impaired the Hebden Bridge Picture House has headsets that offer audio amplification. In addition, subtitled screenings for the hearing impaired are shown each month. Descriptive subtitling is used where available; captions for speech are used where descriptive subtitling is not available. Please refer to the Picture House’s programme for details of which screenings have subtitles – shown with ‘S/T’ after the film’s certificate.

For the visually impaired, audio description is offered via a headset on selected films. Ask at the Box Office to borrow a headset and please refer to the Picture House’s website for details of which screenings are available with this facility.

Easy wheelchair / level access is provided down a gentle ramp on the right hand (Calder Holmes Park) side of the building. Please use the RADAR facility to alert staff of your arrival, and wait one or two minutes whilst someone comes to let you in. You will need a RADAR key to sound the alert to staff.

There are ten designated wheelchair spaces in the auditorium – four within the seating in the stalls on the raked floor (wedges for wheelchair wheels are available on request) and six at the rear of the stalls seating on level floor. You are welcome to reserve a wheelchair space and adjacent seat – please email info@hebdenbridgepicturehouse.co.uk at least 48 hours before the screening or ring 01422 842807 during cinema opening hours.

Hebden Bridge Picture House has one accessible parking space to the park side of the building which is available on a first-come-first-served basis for customers who are blue badge holders (please display this at all times and limit parking to the duration of your visit to the cinema). Please do not park on the double yellow lines as access around the building is needed at all times.

An accessible toilet is located in the foyer. The toilet is now Stoma friendly.

Hebden Bridge Picture House offers occasional (currently bi-monthly) autism-friendly screenings, usually in early afternoons and with family audiences in mind, providing opportunities for people with autism or sensory sensitivity to enjoy a trip to the cinema. They’re for anyone who would benefit from the adapted screening conditions. No-one will ask you whether you should be here, so if you think you’d enjoy coming to a relaxed screening do come along!

Adjustments at a relaxed screening at the Picture House include:

• A relaxed environment where people understand the needs of adults, children and families with autism lights left on low throughout the film
• Sound turned down a little
• No trailers or advertisements (unless they are embedded in the film)
• No introductory music whilst you wait for the film
• Disabled access
• Freedom to move around and sit where you like
• Bring your own food and drink (but the kiosk will be open as usual)
• Additional signage to help you navigate a new place
• Free entry for carers with valid CEA Card

Vue Halifax

Vue Halifax has wheelchair access throughout the venue and in all screens. Access is by two sets of double doors, one of which is automatic. All screens are on one floor with access by stairs and lift. There’s step-free access to the wheelchair spaces and adjoining seats and three accessible toilets.

Vue Halifax shows subtitled films (ST) every week and also offers audio description (AD) on a selection of films. Please visit Vue Halifax’s website for full details and use the filter function to view AD and ST screenings.

Some of Vue Halifax’s screens are equipped with infrared technology to provide hearing assistance. Simply let a member of staff know when you’re purchasing your tickets and they’ll organise a headset or neckloop for you. You’re recommended to arrive earlier than you normally would so that staff can get you set up in time for the film.

Vue Halifax hosts an autism-friendly (ATF) screening at 10am on the last Sunday of every month. In autism-friendly screenings the lights are left on low, the sound is turned down and trailers and adverts aren’t played. When you book tickets for an autism-friendly screening you’ll be asked to choose allocated seats but guests are encouraged to move around during the screening and make a bit of noise.
