What's On in Calderdale September 8th - 10th
The Halifax Heritage Festival is now well underway - there’s too much taking place to go into it all here, but over the weekend you can take tours of awesome architecture such as Piece Hall, Shibden Hall, Bankfield Museum and Halifax Town Hall and gain FREE entry to locations such as Shibden Hall. We’ll cover a couple of daily highlights below, but you can find out more about what’s on as part of the festival here.
Roger Davies and His Band are in Concert at Square Chapel Centre for the Arts tonight, and we’ve just been informed tickets have now SOLD OUT!
Characters from our town’s past will return to life for an evening at Halifax Minster in a magical, candlelit evening, Sans Illuminaire, part of the Halifax Heritage Festival. (7.30pm Tickets in advance, £5 from the Minster office, 01422 355436).
The Halifax Heritage Festival is in full swing. Highlights today include the reopening of the Calderdale Industrial Museum (1.30pm-4-pm), the official opening of the new Halifax Central Library (from 9.30am) and tours of all souls Church at haley hill, which is normally closed to the public.
It’s the return of the Todmorden Food Festival. This year there’s more stalls than ever before so turn up at Pollination square and fill yer boots! (11am – 4 or 5pm) Combine a visit to the Food Festival with some great art, as it’s the Todmorden Open Studios weekend too - see the artwork of 50 Todmorden Artists who are opening their studio doors to the public (Free Brochure and Map available from local Information Centres and Libraries).
Take part in this wacky and challenging Up the Buttress cycle hill climb! EVERYONE who manages to get to the top with their bike gets entered into the raffle to win a brand new Orange Clockwork bike, plus many, many more prizes (1pm – 5pm 310 to enter).
The South Pennines Walk and Ride Festival also begins, with a large number of events taking place across the whole of the beautiful South Pennines area. See what’s on here.
